This week, we finished our Pride in Horror Month with an artist spotlight and a closing message from me, but as stated in said closing message, that doesn’t mean Pride ends, so if you’re inspired by what we’ve featured through June and would like to send us a guest post, please feel free to do so!
We are open to author submissions for Queer Your eReader until August. As before - Romance is full, we have a few spots left for Sci-Fi, slightly more for both Fantasy and Horror, and a lot for Mystery/Thriller. If we manage to get more for the genres where spots are still open, we will look to ‘reopen’ Romance, though please also remember cross-genre works are very welcome.
On Sunday, we featured an artist spotlight, showcasing the work of tattoo artist Jo, also known as slug.
And on the last day of Pride Month, I delivered my annual thank you and closing message.
It’s the last day of Pride, but that doesn’t mean Pride needs to end. Although we’ll be gently closing the door specifically on Pride in Horror Month, we’re not taking down the flags and banners, and it’s not quite time to put away the signs. I try to stress this as much as possible - our door is always open.
We returned to our usual schedule with a review of Eerie Exhibits, from contributor Helen.
I adore Victoria Williamson; whatever she writes, it's always something completely different. Usually, I will review either a MG or YA book of hers. But this time it's a spooky adult book and I couldn't wait to start it.
And finishing off the week, I reviewed Under the Banner of Heaven, a book that examines the Mormon religion alongside horrific crimes committed by Mormon fundamentalists.
Prior to this book, my knowledge of Mormons was limited – I was vaguely aware of the kind of lifestyles they lead; I knew their leader was Joseph Smith, I’ve heard some of the songs from the musical The Book of Mormon. And I think this kind of level of knowledge is likely common for non-religious British folks. So, this book contained a lot of information and events I was simply completely unaware of.
We hope you’ve had a fantastic week full of good books, fun films, enjoyable podcasts…and anything else you enjoy.
Thanks as always for your support
